White-Tailed Eagle

Aquila albicilla

Frequenting the lofty northern coasts of Scotland and sometimes inland crags, the White-Tailed Eagle rears its young on secure ledges or, less often, in trees, building a large stick nest miscellaneously lined and laying two rounded white eggs larger than the Golden Eagle’s. Delighting in fish, it is commonest near the sea or extensive waters; its pale grey plumage and pure white tail make it a marked object against the dark sea.
