Apis Ligustica
Apis Ligustica, the Apis Ligurienne of Latreille, is one of two distinct European species of domestic honey-bee, cultivated with success in Italy and probably the same kind found in the Grecian Archipelago. In its physical characters it nearly resembles the common hive-bee, the difference lying in the first two abdominal rings, except at their posterior edge, and the base of the third being of a pale reddish colour instead of a deep brown.
