Hypercompa? Sybaris, Callimorpha Helcita & C. Phileta
- Hypercompa? Sybaris. A beautiful St. Domingo moth two inches and a half across, closely allied to Hypercompa dominula, the whole colour black profusely marked with white spots, twenty on each fore wing and eighteen on each hind wing in three irregular rows. The sides of the head are white with white dots upon the collar, thorax, scutellum, and abdominal segments; this female bears slender setaceous antennae, the male’s being shortly bipectinated.
- Callimorpha Helcita. A rare and highly prized moth about three inches and a half across, the upper wings beautiful deep red with the outer part black bearing a curved row of large white spots, the under wings similar with a broad black border and eight oval white spots. The head, thorax, and abdomen are deep black with three rows of white spots; said to inhabit the savannahs of Sierra Leone, so inactive it is easily taken.
- Callimorpha Phileta. A Sierra Leone moth expanding two inches and a half, with black antennae, a deep red head and thorax, the latter spotted and streaked with black, and entirely black upper wings crossed by a white band beyond the middle. The posterior wings are yellow margined externally with black, the abdomen yellow with transverse black streaks, the legs black marked with white.
