Crab-Eating Racoon

Procyon cancrivorus

Known to the Brazilians as the Aguarapope, the Crab eater is fulvous and grey with dirty white limbs and face, blackish marks on the forehead and round the eyes, and faint tail rings, measuring some three feet nine inches in total and standing taller at the shoulder. It occupies South America east of the Andes, frequenting trees and watery places rather than high forests or plains, and feeds much upon a common crab.
