Two-Teethed Whale of Sowerby

Diodon Sowerbi

Sixteen feet long and eleven in girth, thick about the middle and tapering to the ends, with a depressed forehead, long muzzle, and two short lateral teeth set in the longer lower jaw. Black above and nearly white below and satiny throughout, its sides beneath the cuticle are covered with white vermicular streaks; known from a single individual cast ashore in Elginshire, its habits remain wholly unknown.
