Senegal Touraco

Corythaix Senegalensis

The most elegant of the plantain-eaters, the touraco combines splendid crimson wings with full green plumage and a conspicuous crest, living wholly on fruit among the topmost branches of the highest forest trees. Restricted to Senegal or the western coast of tropical Africa, the Senegal kind is about a foot in size and distinguished by lacking any red on the crest margins or any white stripe beneath the eye, with a partly crimson bill.
