Rufous-Vented Kinghunter

Halcyon rufiventer

A western African kinghunter whose upper parts combine deep velvet-black over the scapulars, wing-covers and interscapulars with bright cerulean blue on the back, rump and tail. The crown and head are light drab brown, paler at the ears, the throat, neck and upper breast pure white, and the flanks and under wing-covers deep rufous, with crimson bill and feet and a rounded tail, measuring near nine inches.
