Lineated Cuckoo

Cuculus lineatus

A cuckoo much resembling the European bird but distinct, cinereous above and on the breast, with greater wing-covers narrowly tipped white and the body crossed by very narrow black transverse lines. The tail shows nearly equal black and white on the outer feathers with bold bars, and the orbits, nostrils and lower bill are orange-red; the young is banded throughout with whitish and ferruginous, the whole near twelve and a half inches.
