Hare-Like Seal

The Hare-Like Seal, called the Hare of the Sea, is about six and a half feet long with an elongated head, a swollen calf-like upper lip, strong thick whiskers and blue eyes, its very thick skin uniform dull white tinged with yellow and never spotted, the soft interwoven hairs like a hare’s. Frequenting the White Sea in summer and moving up river-mouths after prey, it ranges also to Iceland, Spitzbergen and Kamskatka.
