Long-Nosed Perameles

Perameles nasuta

A long headed marsupial with an attenuated muzzle, moderate pointed ears, and a short tail, brown pencilled with black above, pale brown with a vinous tint on the sides, and white on lip, throat, and the whole under parts. The fur is very harsh, the white belly hairs uncoloured to the root and the legs and feet white, the head and body about sixteen inches with a tail of four and a half, and it inhabits New South Wales.
