Rat-Tailed Hypsiprymnus

Hypsiprymnus murinus

A kangaroo rat with elongated head, short rounded ears, and a scaly, sparsely haired tail about as long as the body, brown above blackened on the back and pencilled with brownish white, the under parts dirty white and the fore claws long and powerful. The head and body measure about fifteen inches with a tail of ten and a half, and it inhabits New South Wales, feeds on roots, and ravages potato crops.
