Short-Headed Petaurus

Petaurus breviceps

A small gliding marsupial with a short head, moderate almost naked ears, and a cylindrical tail somewhat exceeding head and body, the very soft fur ashy grey mottled with whitish and marked by a dusky dorsal line that fades behind. The flank membrane is blackish above and white margined, the under parts whitish grey, the apical tail black, the head and body about six and a half inches, and it inhabits New South Wales, in parts exceedingly abundant.
