Hinny

Rather more docile than the common mule yet of inferior utility, the Hinny is less hardy and somewhat disproportioned, its carcase bulky against the legs and so the more easily fatigued. Now extremely rare in Europe and uncommon in Barbary, where its appearance causes marvel, it gave rise to old tales of monstrous hybrids between bull and ass; a black specimen there proves simply a hinny, while the Western Arabs point instead to the wild Koomrah.
