Little Bustard
Otis minor
A very rare British visitant seen here only in its plainer post-breeding garb, the Little Bustard has appeared in several English counties, once near Montrose, and twice in Wicklow. The breeding male shows bluish-grey cheeks and neck bordered with black collars and white rings, pale chestnut upper parts streaked with black, white wing-coverts, and white under parts, while it feeds chiefly on grains, vegetables, and at times insects.
