Sonnerat’s Wild Cock (Male)

Gallus Sonneratii

Equal in size to an ordinary fowl but more slender, this Indian jungle fowl has a large uneven comb, double wattles, and singular hackles whose golden-orange shafts dilate into flat horny plates. The back, throat, breast, and thighs are deep grey, the tail rich green and succeeding hackles purple and golden-green; sought after by the cock-fighters of Indostan, it is reckoned the boldest and strongest for its size.
