Black-Necked Ortygis

Ortygis nigricollis

Ortygis nigricollis is a stronger species than the last, coming nearer the true quails at rather more than six inches in length, with head and neck deep black mingled above with white and brown and generally solid black on the throat. The upper plumage is varied with irregular yellowish brown and black markings, and the breast is largely barred with black upon a pale yellowish brown ground; it inhabits Madagascar and most probably the African continent also.
