Tataupa

Crypturus tataupa

Crypturus tataupa, also a native of Paraguay, shows rather more familiarity than the last and approaches nearer to cultivation, breeding in similar grassy places but laying eggs of a deep brilliant blue. A small species about nine inches long, its head, neck, breast, and belly are greyish leaden, the throat pure white, the back brownish black, and the rump feathers dull black edged white, the brilliant red bill and purplish red legs contrasting with the chaste plumage.
