Prionus cervicornis

Two and three quarters to over five inches long, remarkable for its projecting mandibles which often exceed head and thorax together, deeply serrated and bent toward each other, the head and thorax rust-brown and the latter three-spined on each side. The dark-brown elytra are variegated with reddish-yellow stripes, the under parts and legs ferruginous; inhabiting Brazil and Cayenne, it is said to saw off twigs with its mandibles.
