Oleander Hawk-Moth
Metopsilus Nerii
A conspicuous and elegant species expanding upwards of four inches, the forewings deep olive-green shaded with white and rose in undulating lines, with a broad oblique rosy band, a violet patch, and a reversed Y-shaped white figure at the apex. The full-grown caterpillar is green with pale yellow front segments, a white side line, and a large blue eye-spot, feeding on oleander, this strictly European moth taken on two occasions in England near Dover and Teignmouth.
