White-Plumed Shrike

Prionops plumatus

A shrike representing the swallow type of its circle, marked by greatly long expanded wings, bristles at the mouth, stiff forward feathers defending the bill, and a remarkable plumed crest. The plumage is chiefly deep blue-glossed black and pure white, the head and neck white with a grey nuchal half-collar, two broad white wing-bands, a white outer tail-feather, and spectacle-like yellow naked skin round the eyes matching the yellow feet.
