Goldn-Eared Grakle
Lamprotornis chrysonotis
A magnificent and very rare grakle of splendid metallic richness, its upper parts glossy yellowish-green tinged with blue and purple on the lower back, the wing-covers and tail crossed by deep velvet-black bands. The ear feathers are scale-like purple tipped with golden copper, the under parts a beautiful purple-lilac glossed with copper, the long tail-covers extending well beyond the wings, and four quills bearing a curious tooth-like notch near the tip.
