Morpho Helenor
Of the section with concave-margined forewings and untailed hindwings, almost exclusively South American; it expands four to five inches, the surface black with a broad silvery or violet-blue band from the forewing margin to the anal extremity, an oblique white costal patch, and white spots. Beneath it is dark brown with large white-pupilled ocelli ringed ferruginous, violet, yellow, and green, and flexuose green basal stripes; found commonly in many countries of South America.
