Thaliura Rhipheus

A magnificent species about the size of Papilio Machaon, sometimes larger; the surface is deep velvet-black, the forewings with golden-green transverse lines and a broad cleft green band continued across the hindwings, where a large space is brilliant coppery-red with violet reflection and black spots, the three tails fringed. Beneath the anal region is bright flame colour with changeable lustre; native to Madagascar, its caterpillar feeds on Mangifera Indica and protrudes two rose-coloured retractile horns.
