Rhipheus Dasycephalus

Copied from Drury’s work for comparison with Plate XXVIII, this figure agrees with Urania in many points yet differs obviously, said to have come from China with black knobbed antennae and tailless hindwings. It is suspected the specimen was defective and repaired by attaching a papilio’s head, Swainson holding it a most splendid and rare creature whose illustration clears a perplexing question in the arrangement of the Lepidoptera.
