Great Senegal Swallow

Hirundo Senegalensis

The largest of the true swallows yet seen, measuring fully eight inches and resembling the common swallow in form. Its crown bears a cap of glossy blue-black, the upper back, wings and tail are glossy blue-black, the lower back and sides of the neck bright rufous, the throat and underparts white tinged with rufous deepening below, with white inner wing-covers and thighs and a forked tail.
