Red Monkey

Cercopithecus ruber

A native of Senegal, this monkey measures about one foot four or five inches in body with a tail nearly equal, the upper parts a brilliant reddish fawn shading to pale grey on the limbs, the face, cheeks, breast, and belly pure white. A black band crosses above the eyebrows and two black mustache-like lines mark the upper lip; lively and active, it dances on all fours in a measured step yet proves irascible when handled.
