Azara’s Opossum

Didelphys Azaræ

A slender opossum some seventeen to nineteen inches in head and body with a tail of like length, having white head and neck, a black forehead stripe dilating into an occipital patch, and a black band encircling each eye. The body is mottled black and pale with black limbs and a long scaly tail tipped white, and common in Brazil to Maldonado it lodges in holes by day, climbs trees, and plunders poultry by night.
