Yapock Opossum
Chironectes Yapock
A moderately stout aquatic opossum, grey above and white beneath, crossed by broad sooty black bands over the shoulders, back, and haunches that join a dorsal line, with a black face band running below the ear and large webbed hind feet for swimming. The head and body are about ten inches with a longer scaly tail tipped white, and found in the smaller streams of Brazil to Honduras it dives well and feeds on Crustacea.
