Bennett’s Kangaroo

Macropus Bennettii

A large kangaroo of very deep grey inclining to black on the back, paler on the sides with a slight rusty tint, and greyish white beneath, the muzzle black, the crown brown black, and the tail hoary grey annulated with white and tipped with black in a tuft. The head and body measure about thirty four inches with a tail of thirty two, and it inhabits Van Diemen’s Land and is much esteemed for food.
