Zebra

Hippotigris zebra

Standing about twelve hands at the shoulder, the Cape Zebra is light and symmetrical, with slender limbs, narrow hoofs, fairly long open ears, and full neck, its white coat cross-barred with black over head, neck, body, and limbs, the bands intense in the male and browner in the female. The erect bushy mane is banded black and white; gregarious in mountainous regions from the Cape beyond Mozambique, it is fierce yet may be tamed and ridden safely.
