Impeyan Lophophorus (Male)

Lophophorus Impeyanus

Almost impossible to describe for the splendour and changeability of its tints, the male shows varying hues of green, steel blue, violet, and golden bronze in dense, metallic, velvety plumage, with an erectile crest and a pure white centre to the back. The rounded chestnut tail is barred with a duller tint and the legs spurred, the smaller reddish-brown female lacking these colours; they inhabit the alpine ranges of Nepaul and Himalaya.
