Latreille’s Attagis

Attagis Latreillei

Attagis Latreillei, a curious bird of Chili, measures about eight inches, little exceeding the common quail, with a bill somewhat like that of pterocles but unplumed feet and tarsi. Nothing has been communicated of its habits or haunts, and it is conjectured to hold the same place on the vast South American plains as the ganga does in the sterile deserts of the old world, its plumage blended with chaste shades of brown.
