Clearing the stone

It is a rule in all offices that, after imposing or correcting, the mallet, shooting stick, furniture, quoins, saw, saw-block, and shears are to be returned to their respective places; type distributed, and bad letter put into the shoe, so that no impediment shall be offered to the next person using the stone. Any of the articles, or two letters left on the stone, will render the party offending liable to a fine in many well-regulated offices.
