Horseflesh

When composition is paid for, week after week, “on account”—that is, instead of the exact value of the work done being estimated, a rough approximate sum is charged—there is always a tendency to “overdraw.” At the finish of the job and the settling up of accounts, what the printer has to work out is called “horseflesh.”
