Pigeon holes

Unusually wide spaces between words, caused by the carelessness or want of taste of the workman. The word is used disrespectfully in this sense, but in cases of extreme hurry, such as on newspaper work, where short “takes” have to be quickly justified to make even, pigeon holes are unavoidable.
