Trochilus ornatus

The female is generally rather smaller than the male and wants both the chestnut crest and the green-tipped neck tufts. Yet the rest of her plumage scarcely yields in brilliancy, the underparts taking a redder tinge where white predominates in the male, while the pale band crossing the rump is less clearly defined.
