Audenet’s Humming-Bird

Trochilus Audenetii

Known from but a single specimen, this rare and elegant species has a slender airy form, a broadly expanded tail, and delicate plumes adorning the neck. Scarcely three inches long, it is bright emerald green on crown and back, crossed on the rump by a black band edged with white, with neck tufts of emerald green each marked by a round white spot; it came from Peru.
