Volume 1, Plate XXVI / Ornithology (Birds)
Dupont’s Humming-Bird
Trochilus Dupontii
Engraved from the only known specimen, this slender Mexican bird has a sharp pointed bill and a lengthened tail of about four inches and a quarter overall. Its upper parts are a shining yellowish green crossed by a white band on the lower back, with a patch of black or dark blue over the throat and cheeks, while the outer tail feathers are curiously broadened and tipped with white.
