Barraband Ring-Parrakeet

Palæornis Barrabandi

A handsome ring-parrakeet of New Holland, measuring fully 15 inches with a tail of nearly 9, having a red bill, rich yellow forehead, throat, and fore-neck closed by a brick-red collar, with grass-green cheeks and ear-coverts, and green body tinged with blue upon the hind head and quills. Its elevated tarsi and feet suggest more terrestrial habits than its congeners, though its peculiar economy in the wild remains unknown.
