Oriole Babbler

Crateropus oriolides

A peculiar babbler common on the western coast of Africa but found nowhere else, its slender lengthened curved bill resembling a Meliphaga, though its colours and nest recall the orioles, with very short wings and a much-graduated tail. The upper plumage is olive-yellow extending to the flanks and thighs, the head and neck to the breast deep black edged with silvery white in a scale-like fashion, the body beneath bright yellow.
