Golden Oriole
Oriolus galbula
The Golden Oriole is only a rare straggler to Britain, the adult male brilliant clear yellow with deep black wings and lores, the tail black tipped with yellow, the female yellowish green above and pale below with streaks. Wintering from northern Africa and breeding chiefly in southern Europe, it builds a neat rounded nest set in a horizontal cleft, laying clear white eggs spotted deep black, chiefly toward the thicker end.
