Wanderoo Monkey

Macacus silenus

Resembling an old man with its great white beard reaching from ear to ear, this darkish-grey, black-faced monkey is as large as an English spaniel and is found abundant in the woods of Ceylon. It keeps to the woods, doing little mischief and eating only leaves and buds of trees, though when caught it will eat anything; captive specimens prove active, good-tempered, and given to swinging and snatching hats.
