Aotes trivirgatus

Discovered upon the Oronooko, this nocturnal monkey has a large round head, no apparent external ear, very large yellow eyes, a soft grayish-white fur with a brown dorsal line and three dark facial stripes, and a long bushy non-prehensile tail, the body nine inches and the tail fourteen. Sleeping by day in a cat-like lethargy, it grows restless at night, hunting birds, insects, and flies, eating vegetables, drinking little, and proving very difficult to tame.
