Pithecia satanas

Discovered in Brazil, this monkey is about two feet nine inches including the bushy, long-haired tail, and entirely dusky-black, paler and purplish-tinged beneath where the hair is thin. Little is known beyond its forest haunts; a related species, the brownish-red bearded Capuchin of the Oronooko, most resembles man in feature, is fierce and difficult to tame, and drinks from the hollow of its hand to keep its long beard dry.
