Pale Dog-Fox

Cynalopex palladus

The pale dog-fox differs little from the Indian kind, only twenty inches long and standing nine and a half inches high, its fur a pale reddish buff, the nose, eyelids, and whiskers black, the irides bright brown, and the pointed ears edged with whitish. Temples, throat, and underparts are white, a buff band rings the neck, and the tail matches the back with a black tip; Rüppel found it in Darfur and Kordofan, burrowing and hunting by night.
