Langsdorff’s Humming-Bird

Trochilus Langsdorffi

A native of Brazil, remarkable for its tail forming a deep fork whose feathers narrow to fine points, the outer near three inches long, with dull golden-green upper parts and a throat patch of the same colour bearing beautiful reflections. Beneath lies a crescent band of bright orange approaching crimson, then brownish-violet belly and pure white vent, completing five colours below, the forked tail of ten feathers showing six deep blue in the centre and the outermost nearly white.
