Wagler’s Humming-Bird

Trochilus Waglerii

Held distinct from the species some take it to be the male of, this beautiful Brazilian bird measures about four inches, its whole plumage a deep dull emerald-green appearing very dark in shade yet showing brilliant blue and golden reflections where light strikes. The slightly forked tail and the wings are tinged dull blue, the wings nearly that colour and differing from the usual purple of the quills.
