Mango Humming-Bird
Trochilus mango
A common and hardy species of the West India Islands, about four inches and a quarter long, with golden-green upper parts, flanks, and coverts, brilliant reflections on the crown, and a stripe of deep velvet-black from chin to vent shaded steel-blue on the sides. A narrow white band bars the flank above the thighs, the broad rounded tail showing golden-green centre feathers and violet or purple others, the young paler with pure white under parts.
