Rough-Legged Racket-Tailed Humming-Bird

Trochilus Underwoodii

Of unknown country, remarkable for the feathering of its tarsi and toes with narrow horny plumes, a structure thought unique among the tribe, and for the deeply forked tail whose narrowing web leaves part of the shaft bare. All the upper parts are golden-green, the rump barred white, a bright emerald-green gorget over throat, neck, and breast succeeded by deep brownish-green, the thighs and plumed tarsi pure white and the blackish-brown tail tinged green at the centre.
