Scaly Backed Humming-Bird
Trochilus Eurynomus
A native of Brazil, about six inches and a half long including the prolonged centre tail-feathers, with head and back of neck covered in brown scaly feathers fringed chestnut, the remaining upper parts fresh green with large scaly plumes fringed dull reddish. A black auricular patch lies below ochreous-yellow lines, the scaly throat brown fringed yellow, the breast and flanks brownish-grey dashed reddish, the wedge-shaped tail with white-tipped centre feathers and black feathers half-tipped white.
